Uniloy IBM 88 Injection Blow Machine
This machine was being run in a medical environment, meaning it is a very good condition.
The counter on the system shows that it has ran 52645.1 hours.
The system has had a fairly easy life, it has only recently started to run it 24/5. It runs a 4 cavity tool with a cycle time of ~20 secs and the tool has only been removed 2-3 times. The machine is in full working order
Technical Drawing is available.
Below is a Q & A with the current owner.
It can be adapted to run PET – modifications are available from Uniloy to allow PET to run. Uniloy reckon it can run 6 small cavities with PET probably more (small bottle sizes due to the resin stretching restrictions).
1994
We run a 4 cavity 300ml size. The maximum bottle size would depend on the Length to diameter ratio, neck diameter and resin type used.
We currently produce 800 bowls (bottles) per hour however our process is very slow because of the very tight tolerances we currently run to. The blow mould dimensions are controlled to +/- 0.005 inch. A smaller bottle / less critical dimensions would be much quicker – as an estimate the machine could produce twice as much running 2x faster. Again the overall bottles per hour is largely based on shot weight, size and resin.
The system is now decommissioned.
The machine is a 3 station machine only. That is why it has been stated that the machine can only run VERY small PET (mascara tubes) where stretching and conditioning is not needed.
If the 500ml mentioned is PET, then this machine is not the correct choice
It has a 2.5 inch Westmoreland Eagle Mixing screw. This was only installed 2-3 years ago.
I have also found all of the manuals (system installation, control system, programming etc) and all drawings (electrical and machine PLC ladder diagrams).
Technical Drawing is available.
